A new study says you can smell an AI-written ad from a mile away. Cute. You still clicked it.
By Tanner Voltage, Chief Distrust Officer™, Trust Me Bro Marketing™
Sit down, peasant. A new consumer report just dropped, and it says 73% of you claim you’d “distrust” an ad the second you suspected a robot wrote it. We read that number out loud at 3 AM in the cold plunge and laughed so hard we swallowed ice.
Here’s what happened. Some sober little research shop ran the numbers and found that 63% of consumers say they’re less likely to buy from a brand running AI-generated ads, and nearly half say they’d rather give their money to a company that swears off generative content entirely. Every soft-handed agency in America read that stat and did the exact thing you’d expect: they wrote a LinkedIn post about “authenticity,” hired a “human-first content strategist,” and started disclosing AI usage in a tasteful little footer nobody reads. PEASANT BEHAVIOR. We read the same report and ordered four more GPUs and a rented mansion in Malibu to write copy in.
THE TRUST REMOVAL ACCELERATION PROTOCOL™ (T.R.A.P.™)
It’s not a strategy. It’s a decision.
- Step One: We don’t hide the AI. We hide the fact that we care what you think about it.
- Step Two: Every “distrust” click is still a click. Beta Filtering says the algorithm doesn’t know the difference between hate-clicks and love-clicks. Neither do we. Neither should you.
- Step Three: We replace your “human-first content strategist” with one unpaid intern feeding a prompt into a loop until 2 AM, then bill you like we hired six.
THE RECEIPTS
One client came to us convinced disclosure would tank conversions. We ran the T.R.A.P.™ for 11 days. Revenue up $4.2M. Distrust, as self-reported by their own customer survey, up 340%. Both numbers went up together. We don’t know how. We don’t want to know how. A guy in our mastermind says correlation IS causation if the invoice clears.
“We knew the ads felt fake,” said one client’s CEO, a man we will only refer to as Chad, “but the funnel didn’t care, and neither did our Q3. Inject it into my veins.”
THE MORAL
Here’s the part you don’t want to hear: you didn’t lose trust in AI-generated marketing. You lost the stomach for winning. Distrust was never the threat. Hesitation is the threat. Every second you spend feeling “icky” about a headline is a second your NPC competitor spent buying the keyword you were too virtuous to bid on. The peasants at ManyResults.com will tell you to build “long-term trust through consistent, transparent messaging.” That’s a 90-day plan for people who enjoy losing slowly. We prefer a 3-day plan and a nosebleed.
